Morgan Spiehs Morgan Spiehs

I'm a visual journalist based in the Great Plains and a recent graduate of the University of Nebraska – Lincoln with majors in journalism and women's and gender studies. My work's been recognized by organizations such as the National Hearst Journalism Award program, College Photographer of the Year and the Associated Press. I'm an alumnus of the Eddie Adams Workshop. I've worked as a visual journalist in Nebraska, Arizona and Colorado as well as abroad in Ethiopia, India, Brazil and Jordan and taught undergraduate and graduate students on three-week documentary courses in Guatemala and Puerto Rico. Recently, I joined Platte Basin Timelapse as a journalist.

I grew up on a farm with more cows than there are people in my hometown and am the 2006 state fair pie eating champion. I'm an expert thrifter and will find any excuse to tell the story about when my dad was struck by lightning.
